Lucky the leaking pipe was in a cupboard and easily fixed. I spoke to a really helpful and knowledgeable guy when I rang to make the appointment. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to make an appointment - just 2 days later. Frank arrived on time. He was really polite, answering questions and talking us through what he was doing. He found the leak really quickly with the damp meter but completed the rest of the testing to confirm this. He was really careful with my wooden floor (he had to cut it) and quickly removed the concrete to show the leak. Swiftly mended and he tidied up very thoroughly. Leak mended and boiler pressure is now stable. They said they could find it and make a repair free of charge. However, when two men from the local water company turned up, they didnt seem that experienced and didn't have all the detecting equipment for finding a leak. It was thought that the leak was in our driveway, which unfortunately had been recently replaced. But they could not pinpoint where the leak may be. They could dig here and there over the drive to find it. At that point we told them to leave it and we would get a professional company in to find and fix the leak. We found ADI Leak Detection who were able to come in a few days. We were really pleased that they found the area of the leak in our drive. The new brickwork, sand, and hardcore were removed carefully and the leak was found and repaired. Just one hole was dug and not that big. We were really pleased with how ADI Leak Detection handled everything from our initial call to fixing the leak. Two days later Mark Pavitt arrived. He explained everything he was doing and quickly found the leak under the kitchen floor. He repaired the pipework and retested the system efficiently. Before leaving that day, he made sure that everything was left clean and tidy. The following day Mark provided us with a full report and photographs for the insurance company. It was an awkward job, leak was behind washing machine with a tumble dryer above so all had to be removed. He made an excellent job of putting everything back and was left clean and tidy. I was worried I wouldn't have a washing machine until the redecorating was done but he managed to get it back so far so we had the use of the washing machine and tumble dryer. Spent a long time testing all the pipes with various high tech equipment before having to dig up the concrete floor, and did the exact area to ensure minimal damage caused. He fixed the leak then retested all the pipes again to ensure all was ok. Highly impressed. By luck, I found ADI, who's engineer Robert Gires arrived promptly on the arranged date, quickly locating and fixing a leaking pipe fitting hidden behind fitted panels. He then devoted the remainder of his working day to checking us over water-wise, from the attic down, uncovering and rectifying several other unsuspected faults that would have become troublesome later. At every stage, he showed us what he'd found, told us what he would do, and showed us what he'd done (recording it with photos). We were greatly relieved to find ourselves in such good hands. This was a second visit following Danny having been onsite for a full day prior. He determined that there was a leak on the hot water pipe but could convulsively confirm where it was. So I he had to come back with with a second engineer too. Both Danny and Mark (Jones) arrived on time and worked well as a team. They were open to talking me through their investigation stage by stage which I found helpful. They were both very knowledgeable and thankfully found the problem and fixed it. Although it was a second visit and therefore an extra days charge it was a tricky issue and despite them not being so excited about the job they stuck to it and fixed the issue. They even had to cut through a kitchen cupboard to get to an area where the pipe was running and did a very tidy job of that. They worked tirelessly throughout the day not even taking a proper lunch break. They also took time to tidy after themselves and also cover the holes they created. They also tested the system again and confirmed it’s all repaired ie no other defects in the pipework. Only issue was they couldn’t take the rubbish away (5 bags of rubble) so I’ve got to sort that out but they told me about that upfront. I would have appreciated it if, even for a charge, they would have taken that away with them. He then quickly used a range of diagnostic tools and located the area of the leak which luckily was under a 1200 mm unit which he carefully dismantled and soon had exposed the faulty copper pipe by carefully chiselling away the floor screed. Despite being in a pretty awkward location he then replaced about 15 cm of copper pipe and then thoroughly retested it. In less than 5 hours he had rebuilt the kitchen unit back to 'as new' and tidied everything away. So what did I find amazing? 1. The initial up-front cost - which I had worried about and having read all of the negative reviews was concerned about! My advice - make sure you are clear about the problem, available to point out stopcock locations etc and ensure you have filled the kettle before work starts! 2. Mark's willingness to explain what he was doing and the technology he was using - he tolerated my inane questions (I am a retired A level Physics teacher) with great tolerance and I felt I understood what he was doing and my rather weird house plumbing much better due to his patient explanation. 3. His ability to dismantle a kitchen unit and dig out a large bucketful of concrete screed without making much mess at all! I had visions of dust everywhere and 10-12 hours for the job to be completed so this was a really pleasant surprise. 4. Mark's explanation of house insurance, especially 'Trace and Access' (which luckily we have) so that the total cost to us should be £400 rather than the £1200 + that had so alarmed me (see point 1!) So I am just waiting for the report to arrive so I can put in the insurance claim! In summary - I would not hesitate to recommend adi - but do ensure you make their task as easy as possible! I got a boiler engineer to come check out the boiler. They said the boiler was perfectly fine as it’s only 1 year old. And that there is for sure a leak in the pipe work. We isolated the pipe work from the ground floor heating and the first floor heating. When the system was just running for first floor the boiler was fine. When you turned the isolators off for ground floor and used the ground floor the boiler would lead to pressure loose. This means the leak is ground floor. We isolated the ground floor again and only used first floor heating and the boiler works perfectly not even losing any pressure. I looked up and found this company. I called them and got a quote and they said they will use thermal imaging and tracer gases to locate the leak. And will a site repair and a leak check at the end on the phone. We agreed and set a date. When the engineer came he had to connect the ground floor to the main heating again and let the hot water run through the system so he can use the thermal imaging. He only let it run for about 15 minutes and then started using thermal imaging where they say the heating should be on for 3 hours so they can use thermal imagining. He walked around for maybe 15 minutes and then started to use a damp meter. Every where was fine except one place there was readings not even able to read on he’s devices meaning a lot of dampness there. And he said most probably where the leak was but said might be hard to get to. He started using a heating device and went around while he filled up the heating system with tracer gas. The same spot where the dampness was he kept getting some noise but choose to ignore it. This is why I stayed with him through the process, only for 30 minutes I left to go out quickly. I saw that there was some noise but again he choose to ignore it for some reason. He couldn’t find it and I asked him when there’s no hot water in the system, when the pipes cool down it could close the leak and the engineer said yes that’s the problem sometimes and the tracer has cannot find that. I left for 30 minutes and when I came back he was under the stairs where the isolators where and he said there was some leak above there. I was surprised because the smallest leak he said he found was on the water system leading to the upstairs heating and not the bottom heating system. He removed a small piece of copper pipe maybes 5cm and replaced it and they ended up charging me around £110 for that ‘small repair’. And it’s strange because if there was a leak there then the boiler system pressure would go down when the heating for only upstairs was working but it never did. Seems like a job done for no reason just to get out of repairing the real damage because they would have got paid already just for coming out. Then when I tried to still ask him about that dampness he ignored it and then started to go to the boiler. He said maybe there is something wrong with the boiler. He opened it up and started playing around with it. I don’t know what he did and I am not sure if he is even allowed to do that. I told him I had gas safety engineer already come to check it. There was nothing wrong with it and it’s new. He then went on to say he could find the leak on ground floor and that the only repair he did was the small leak accordingly that he found when I wasn’t there. He left and the next day the pressure went down again. I called them again to say look the pressure has dropped. You haven’t found the leak nor did you ‘repair’ fix anything. The guy said to just top up the pressure and see and call back in 24 hours. I did that and funny enough they are closed on the weekends. I had to isolate the ground floor again and top up the pressure again and with the Isolation of ground floor the pressure e never dropped. I booked a gas engineer again just to come check again because the leak detection guy was playing around with the boiler and he said he didn’t know what was wrong. The gas engineer again said that the boiler is in good working condition but someone has moved some things in the boiler and they rectified it. I called the company there again in front on the gas and boiler engineer to explain them the situation and he said if there is a leak from their ‘repair’ then it would be free of charge but if there is another leak then I would be charged again. I told him look the leak is where the dampness is. You couldn’t find it didn’t want to find. I explained to him how the system works that the ground floor is isolated and that the pressure loose only happens when the ground floor is not isolated from the system. Their unnecessary ‘repair’ they did was not the cause or source of leak because that’s in the pipe work going to the first floor heating that was working perfectly fine! Because they didn’t find the leak they made a repair so it seems like they found something. Lots of our customers have visible evidence of their leak and we know from our 10 plus years’ experience in the industry that the source of the leak is not necessarily where the water is surfacing, so as a Leak Detection company we would naturally assume that you need a leak detection before the leak can assessed for repair. We explained to you in detail all the equipment that would be used to find the leak non-invasively, and that our aim would be to carry out a repair on the same day if possible, and you confirmed that you were happy with this. We then went on to explain our quote price which includes 2 separate parts - one for the leak detection (which is a fixed price however long this takes) and one for the same day repair if this is possible. Again you confirmed that you understood this and wanted to proceed with the booking. We try to make it very clear through the description of the service we provide that the same day repair can’t be guaranteed. We endeavour to provide as much detail as we possibly can about our service over the phone, so that every customer has a realistic expectation of what we can achieve. We recognise that it can be a lot of information to take in and it is company policy to follow up every booking with a confirmation email with Terms and Conditions attached, so you have these available to refer back to if required. Did not find the source and couldn't fix on the day, fair enough - that happens. Card charged almost instantly after the engineer left. Clearly just money grubbing. Re-booked another appointment to find the actual leak and fix. Engineer arrived, dug access through concrete in kitchen and garden - makes sense. DPM made gas trace ineffective as it covered the location, also fine. Engineer couldn't find the source of leak because couldn't get through the outside concrete so needed to come back with a jackhammer the following week. Assured by the engineer (and confirmed twice!) that this callout was free as he couldn't fix the leak that day. I even said to him as an invoice rolled through while he was still here and asked why I received it, saying that £594 was too much and I expected it to be free. He agreed and said he'd talk to Head Office on the way back. In my mind that was it, verbal agreement and spoke to a representative of the company about it. Monday rolls around, engineer comes and fixes the leak promptly, explains what was the issue (uncapped mains lead pipe when extension was built and pipes re-routed, pipe was just hammered closed and has opened again). Again, engineer was great. After the engineer had left, an attempted charge to my credit card happened for £594, three times. Even after assurances from the engineer that the Monday call out would be free. Finally got a phone call from ADI head office about the failed payments, and had back and forth over this and it appears there was miscommunication between ourselves and ADI. We thought we'd "communicated" with them as we were speaking to the engineer about it, and he'd said he'd tell the office that Monday was free as he was leaving on Friday. Apparently this wasn't communication in their eyes? I don't know what the engineer and head office were communicating about and didn't realise that talking to the actual person doing the repairs wasn't considered "communication". I knew this was going to happen due to the red flags of instant card charges and only receiving phone calls about payment. £594 is their flat callout rate. We were quoted ~£800 for detection, access and repair. After the second call out, the total was now at £1188. Then the third call out would have taken it up to £1782 - without the access and repair on top. The leak could probably have been detected, accessed and repaired on the first call out and definitely on the second had the engineer had a jackhammer (fine that the engineer didn't have one, sometimes it happens that you don't have the tools). Finally agreed to pay the fix and material cost, which is fine - it was fixed, but not the ridiculous call out charge for what was supposed to be free. so in total the detection, access and fix will cost ~£1400. Overpriced. Beware of this company. Their engineers are good, but the head office aren't. No sense of customer service except for what is scripted and credit card detail capture. I now have to cancel my card as I don't trust that it won't be charged at some point, have agreed to pay the rest via bank transfer. The person on the end of the phone was very interested in how fast I was going to pay. Get a local plumber that does leak detection and fix and you won't have to deal with "The Head Office" and their lack of communications between themselves and the engineers. ADI are just middlemen with good SEO, preying on peoples emergencies. We were told by the water company that we had an internal leak losing 8,000 litres of water each week. We called in ADI straight away. Cory came out initially, performed several checks and tests, and determined the problem was a faulty water meter and fitting so it was not possible to turn off the supply fully nor complete the testing. Cory and Mark then came out after the water company had replaced the meter, retested all of our pipe work, and found there was no leak inside or out. The problem lay squarely at the water company’s door with their faulty equipment. ADI are now helping us reclaim from the water company what we have lost in over billing and investigation works. We called ADI who were very professional and quick in arranging an appointment to sort our problem. Frank the engineer arrived early ( nice long drive from Lowestoft to our house in Northamptonshire ) explained exactly what he was going to do to find the problem, once Frank had unloaded his gear he drained down our system and then started to proceed to search for our leak using gas and his gas detector, Frank eventually found two issues with our pipes, one at our radiator and another which was buried in the concrete floor. Frank replaced the valve on our radiator which sorted the first issue, then asked permission to dig up the concrete and sort the second issue, once Frank had found the exact problem he replaced a couple of sections of pipework and so far we have had no other issues with our boiler system. Would highly recommend Frank and the service from ADI. He also caused minimal disruption to the tiles on the floor as he was able to accurately pinpoint the leak and expertly cut the tile to reveal the burst pipe. This could have been a serious problem but is now resolved with minimal disruption. I knew that I was in good hands when I first spoke to Dave at the call-centre, who was amazing and even though I was panicking as losing 45L per hour somewhere, Dave assured me that Frank, one of their great engineers was on it and they not only got here in record time, located the leak in a timely manner and identified that whichever company historically did the extension cleverly poured concrete directly onto unprotected copper which corroded the copper; but not only did Frank detect the exact location of the leak, carefully removed a small kitchen of kitchen tile with care, drilled out the concrete, replaced the copper, lagged the copper to protect it but also the really nice thing that I really respect, was that Frank totally cleaned up the whole area and placed all tile and masonry neatly in a rubble sack before he left. A great job well done, I only wish API did extensions as this issue would have never been an issue. Our booking experience was seamless and an engineer was confirmed to attend the very next day. The next morning “Robert” arrived and after showing him around he quickly got to work. Despite none of the pipe work being labelled from the original installer, Robert systematically worked through each run one by one and took great care to ensure that our system was progressively isolated and fully tested. Robert was extremely knowledgable, and explained what he was doing and his thought processes at every step. Robert was also extremely respectful of our property with shoes removed at the door and not a drop of water spilt either. (If only all of our contractors were this good). In the end, (and much to my relief), the source of the leak was traced to a faulty cistern which was letting by and allowing water to escape into the pan below. Once identified, Robert even managed to fix this and then he tested everything again to verify that this was indeed the issue. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. 90% had a good experience? This is what drew me to this Company, but they all sing off the same Hymn sheet although there is nothing Christian about them. They say they will deliver but it's all hot air. BE VERY CAREFUL once they have your card details, they will take your money as soon as the engineer leaves your property, with me, they came back for a second day, failed to find the leak, took my money and when I said the contract states "No find, no fee" they said (Adrian Morgan) the leak was too deep! Order of play was like this; Day One - Paid £950, Told most Leaks are found and repaired in one day, told they have 60k of equipment in the van. Told I didn't have a leak on my property, it was probably a faulty water meter. Left at 1pm. Contacted South West Water, they came out and told me the leak is definitely on my property. Day Two - ADI came back, apologised and said this day would be free! Thank you! - Engineer checked again and began digging up the garden, about 3.30pm said would have to come back the next day and sort it. (All that equipment eh?) said it would cost £750 but would definitely get the job done - I agreed. Day Three - Faffed around until about 3pm said I definitely had a leek but he couldn't find it, suggested he came back with a colleague and "Moled" a new supply pipe in at a cost of £2,600! I declined. So,.... The choice is yours, be wise, shop around, the people in this Company, Adrian, Dave, Abz to name a few who I spoke to, are very good talkers, trained well and promise to deliver. Try to get some money back and you will get a completely different tone. I wonder if someone will reply from the Company? If they do, I guess they will give you a very valid excuse for their failure to deliver. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE I eventually found a firm who came and did the job in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Mark Pavitt duly arrived the next day and began his investigation and in no time at all came the diagnose that the leak was in fact the shower room adjoining the sun lounge. Mark then used the gas detection system to pin point exactly the location of the leak which turned out to be under the fitted units in the corner of the room. Mark then obtained access carefully removing sections of the unit then removing some of the concrete floor to expose the leak and replaced a section of the pipe. Mark then cleaned up the whole area and will now supply a report on his visit with his recommendations to us. This has been money well spent as without this equipment and the expertise that Mark has we do not know how this would have been fixed. They are incompetent and their engineers don't appear to know how to carry out all the services that the company boasts they can do. Be very careful using them, they take your card details before the work is complete and debit the card immediately after the engineer has attended whether he completes the work or not. the company are not interested in good customer service, they are only interested in taking payment the moment an engineer declares he has attended a job, regardless of whether he has done any work or completed the job. the company debitted £594 from my account without my permission and have refused a refund. The engineer was at my property for less than 30 mins and made very little attempt to carry out a successful job. He could not wait to get away. The work required at my property had been clearly explained to the office staff but this had not been passed onto the engineer who attended my property. there was a leak in an underground pipe outside of the property that anglian water discovered and I booked in this company to detect and repair the leak. The engineer had no idea why he was attending the property, this lead to a misunderstanding regarding the work. Very little attempt was made to sort this out so the job could be completed. the engineer was not interested in trying to carry out the work. the office made no attempt to contact me in order for the work to be carried out and the engineer left the job after less than half hour. following this fiasco no apology was made, no attempt to complete the job was made, no attempt to contact me was made. the company was only interested in blaming me and taking payment. if the company and engineer had been interested in providing a proper service they would have put some effort into carrying out the work but they did not. they should have contacted me immediately and tried to sort out the misunderstanding. they did not. the engineer was not interested in carrying out a proper job. The customer service following the work not being carried has been diabolical. I contacted ADI Leak Detection by telephone in June, when I was concerned that my Thames Water bills were going up exponentially every month. It seemed very likely we had a leak, either in my house or externally. ADI were friendly and knowledgeable, when I contacted them by phone. They gave me a written quote for leak detection and repair, which turned out to be good value for money. I accepted the quote and booked for an engineer to come out. Robert turned up early in the morning and quickly got to work investigating the house water systems and checking the water pressures in the house and externally, the water meter and pipes. After pressure checks, ultrasound and gas detection, it was shown the inside of the house was fine, but there was two leaks under my driveway close to the water meter on the pavement. The driveway was carefully dug up and the leaks quickly found and repaired with new plastic piping being fitted. I was very pleased with the service provided by ADI Leak Detection, with engineer Robert showing expertise, patience and good communication throughout.
