He sent the quote requested by our insurance company within minutes and communication was brilliant. Paul then detected our leak within a few hours using amazing equipment, and went on to repair it and test the repair. He was friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. His report will be with us in a few days which, given that it's a Bank Holiday weekend, is very impressive. The engineer Daniel was again first class, arrived bang on time polite and explained everything he was doing and why. He arrived on time, explained exactly what he was going to do and why he was doing it. Then set to work diligently going from room to room assessing where the leak might be. He found the general area where the leak was and went through options with me to access the leak. He came up with an opinion to remove the bedroom carpet and wooden floor to view the pipes, having previously agreed with me that isolating one radiator in the lounge might save a highly expensive parque floor in that room. Found the leak and fixed it. Then the went throgh testing the system with gas to make sure there were no more leaks and re-pressuring the system, heat assessing all the raditators and explaining every step to me as he did it. I learnt alot about my central heating system and how to keep it in first class condition. This was probably the best experience I have had with a plumbing firm and would thoughly recommend them. Very professional and know how to find and fix leaks. Prior to the visit the admin team were also professional and clear about quotes and costs. He explained the procedure, calmly implemented it and found the source of the leak within a couple of hours. It was hidden away under the tiles in the utility area. He then proceeded to carefully gain access to the offending pipe and completed the repair. The system was thoroughly tested and - Hey presto -it was fixed. I had a different leak detection company come out first and they could not find the leak. Then Kyle from ADI pro leak came over and found where it was coming from. He was very methodical and worked through various options, eliminating various things as he went along. Very friendly and knew what he was doing. Used various equipment and talked me through each stage. Very courteous. He even chatted to my regular plumber when he’d found the leak, to tell him exactly what needed to be done to fix the leak. Kyle left my house singing to himself he was so pleased he’d found where the leak was coming from. No other way to really describe the service and professionalism provided by ADI Leak Detection and in particular Frank, the engineer who attended. Our central heating system kept losing pressure. We had ruled out the boiler and hot water cylinder (both had been checked and serviced) and thought it might be a leak. Frank arrived on time and spent the first 30 minutes listening to the problem, what we had done so far and asked a bunch of questions. He then set about doing a review of our system and radiators. Drained everything which took ages as it is a big system! He then put gas in the system and set about with 'gas' detectors and found the general location of the leak - frustratingly between two radiators under a travertine kitchen floor. He then used a metal detector to map the pipework, added water into the system and used a listening device to pin point the exact position. He lifted one single tile, chipped away cement and found the exact point of the leak. This in itself was incredible - needle in haystack type pinpoint accuracy! He promptly repaired it and the pipe next to it as felt that might be a problem in the future. He then tested the whole system again satisfied this was the only problem. He pointed out to me that one of our radiator release valves needed replacing and asked if he could replace it and also highlighted that best practice would be to have a couple of pressure release valves off our cylinder piping in the cellar and offered to add these. He cleaned up all the mess created from chipping out the tile and concrete. Our heating is back on and working perfectly! I have renovated three houses and dealt with many tradesman, plumbers, engineers and the like! All the radiators were checked for leaks . A neat job cutting through the floor boards after carefully lifting the laminate floor. Leak repaired. System repressurised and time spent waiting to see if there were any problems. All done. After spending an entire day trying to find your leak, our engineer's conclusion was that leak seal chemical had been added to your system which was impeding the testing process. We advised you to remove the leak seal chemical in order to proceed with effective testing. To our knowledge you have not followed our recommendations. You have since informed us that the leak rate has slowed which proves the point that the leak seal chemical has not been removed from the system. We have advised you, as well as cleaning out the sealant, that the leak will need to get worse before it can be detected. So to clarify, having not paid us for the appointment, you are no worse off and instead have instead received a free leak detection and free advice. But there were no obvious signs of water damage. After researching leak identification companies online, I gave ADL a call. From the first phone call with Dave, the service from ADL was brilliant. Dave was exceptionally helpful, explaining the leak detection process and costs. A couple of days later, Paul came out to do the work. Paul was really friendly, efficient and knowledgable and had found the leak and repaired the pipework within a couple of hours. He did a really neat job and we were surprised at how well and how quickly the whole job was done, with minimal disruption. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend ADL for this type of work. Contacted ADI and spoke to Dominic. Dominic talked me through the process and prices and was able to book the assessment for first thing Thursday, with assurance that the designated plumber would be with us for the day, to allow for full assessment using five non evasive methods, and would then carry out the required repairs and supply a full written report to assist in any claims needed to be made through our house insurance. Frank arrived Thursday morning promptly and was polite, well prepared and very knowledgeable about the process and was amazingly reassuring to me, as I was very anxious about what would be required. Frank was very attentive and kept me informed about each step, the findings and the works that were required to rectify the leak. Frank then proceeded to conduct the work and was extremely careful ensuring disruption and damage avoidance were kept to the minimum. Frank worked with efficiency and left me feeling confident that the leak had been resolved and he put back everything possible to the way it was before (brickweave, flooring, toilet etc) He tested everything before leaving and talked me through all the new pipelines that had been fitted. Once the location was found the repair unfortunately involved cutting into a wooden floor and removing the concrete. The leaking pipe was replaced and lagged. The engineer tidied up and removed all the debris very efficiently and neatly. They then returned the following day and then moled in 8m of pipe and replaced the pipe into my house. I chose this company based on the high score of trustpilot reviews, but now I regret it so much. I should have rather chosen a local, reliable and well experienced plumber. I would never recommend this company to any one. For people with relatively small domestic issues, this is not a company to go for. [Now in response to the company's response below and updates - to help any potential user of this company] The vinyl tile that the engineer thought contained asbestos was tested and proved to have no asbestos. Three plumbers and 2 asbestos experts all said this type of tile does not have asbestos (from their experience). So the ADI's engineers either inexperienced to say that normal tiles may have asbestos or intentionally did it (knowing that we just bought our house and do not know the history of the building). Also, the engineer made a wrong guess after his only initial few tests that a waste pipe may be the culprit of leaking, but it is found out that it is not the reason. No professionalism, no kind support for customer, now proper investigation and wrong guess (would not even say it was judgment). The engineer was very thorough and polite throughout the visits but left with the suggestion that we have our drains inspected with a camera. We subsequently did that, as well as having a builder check for potential problems from guttering, structure etc. After that we tried damp surveyors, none of whom could help. Roll forward to August 2023, we finally decided to ask a local builder to take up an area of the kitchen floor in the area originally suspected as the source of the problem and, sure enough, we found a buried, leaking stop tap. On contacting ADI Leak Detection again, they were not prepared to consider that they missed a leak, as it was now a year since they visit ( a year of stress and anxiety for 2 anxious homeowners who were seriously considering selling the property with damp very obvious at one point) The truth, as another leak detection company has now pointed out is that it was probably a very small leak which may well have taken 24 hours or more to detect. In the eyes of ADI Leak Detection no detected leak means that there is no leak at all meaning that their ‘No find, no fee’ guarantee is worthless. A second point to consider is that I had assumed (my fault here) that they would detect any form of leak - they were in fact only capable of detecting mains pressure leaks. I expressed how worried I was about the price but was told that I could 'claim it on my house insurance'. I have no understanding of plumbing and assumed that we had to find the old pipe to lay a new one in the same trench. Day 2 the engineer arrived with a digger and a colleague and dug up my driveway and still could not find the leaky water pipe. Day 3 Wessex Water arrived 'concerned' that we were still under investigation! Day 4 The engineer told me that they couldn't locate the leak so they would just mole a new pipe! Why didn't they just mole a new pipe on Day 1?? A job that soared from approx £1,000 to £5,000 for absolutely NO REASON, other than to line their own pockets. Daylight robbery. BEWARE of the Ts&Cs - they have refused to mend my driveway because it is made of block paving. I am reporting this company to Trading Standards. Reply from ADI Leak Detection: > Dear Customer, It is unfortunate that your mains pipe was buried significantly deeper than the usual 70cm - 1.3m which is the depth that is stipulated in Water Regulations. This indeed meant that locating the pipe to carry out a repair was more difficult than usual. When an inquiry is made with us you have two options, either you can ask for a leak detection, or a mains replacement. Some customers have already come to the conclusion that they need a mains replacement, and in this case we can quote them for a mains replacement straight off the bat. However if you ask us to carry out a leak detection, the first course of action is to try to locate the leak. As such, moling equipment is not brought to a standard leak detection job, and a pipe replacement can never be carried out on the first day of a leak detection. If it is deemed that a repair to the pipe is not feasible, then we can quote you for a mains replacement as a solution to overcome the leak. This is what happened in your case - the leak was deemed inaccessible and a quote for a replacement was provided and accepted by yourself. The price of the job did not soar for no reason other than to line our own pockets. The pipe replacement required several further days on site, along with the moling equipment and this does of course carry additional costs compared with a basic leak detection. We would like to point out that we gave you the option of replacing the pipe after the first appointment when we initially discovered the depth of the pipe, but this option was declined. Although we made it clear that the block paving reinstatement was not included in the quote - as it is a different skillset and trade - we provided a discount for this as an apology for any misunderstanding. It is therefore disappointing to read your complaint despite having accepted your request to provide a discount for this. We wish that every leak we were asked to identify could be found and fixed in the first day of investigation, but this is not always the case and this is why our quotes are split at the point of inquiry between 1) leak detection and 2) a conditional quote for a repair IF it can be carried out on the same day. We really feel for those customers who end up needing a pipe replacement and this is why we like to make you aware that you have the option of claiming on your insurance if it makes the whole process more manageable for you. This company is seriously poor. Paid £1500 to conduct a pool survey and they didn't check the basics. They only pressure tested the return lines. Spent a lot of time talking and standing around before leaving at 1pm. I like others on here will be contacting the bank to reverse the charges or obtain a CCJ for refund. Please don't be fooled in to using them. I since used Trace Surveys Ltd who found my swimming pool leak. They actually got in the pool rather than staring at it stating it is not the pool with out checking the basics. This job was way beyond their expertise and they should have not tried to bluff it and been honest. £1500 for 3 hours work is totally shocking and they should hang their heads in shame. I have the money to lose but all those vulnerable people that don't i feel for you. Please think twice before using this service. A company that charges up front are not confident of their ability and don't back themselves. Matt and another engineer arrived on time and got straight to work, Matt does the video's on TikTok which is where I found ADI. He explained everything clearly and managed to find several leaks and repair within 3 hrs. They checked all the pipework and confirmed everything else was ok, which is peace of mind. Looking forward to seeing the video and hopefully other costumers' can benefit. Water leaks are detected only on water feeds into the building, it’s a separate charge for a separate team and camera for drains, unless the drain team find a leak on a water feed, then you are charged the highest fee. You are not purchasing a comprehensive leak detection service, it’s an open ended exploration where your charges will rise and invoicing is not in line with quote. i.e. the story changed to we are one team when the drain contractor found the leak, despite two separate charges all well documented. T&Cs apply as it suits them, no find no fee does not apply. No complaints process, quote and invoicing do not tie up, payment they took was unauthorised. Your data is shared with a sister company without your consent to manage your leak, privacy breach. They are delighted if you have insurance. Reported to credit card company, Trading Standards and CIPHE, plumbing regulators. Beware. You have asked us for a full refund which we would be happy to give you if we still had not been able to find the leak.
