Robert quickly traced to O/S mains which runs under 8 metres of tarmac drive! Gave very helpful advice and organised moling machine for next day. Spent rest of boiling hot day with no breaks digging earth near drive ready for moling work. Next day Krzystof (head mole) and Robert replaced pipe. All near spotless and drive intact! Even lawn left very tidy. Wouldn't know anything much had been done. Brilliant job by brilliant, friendly, polite people. Expert professionals - THANK YOU! After fixing the leak these were returned to their original position so well you wouldn’t know they had been removed. In finding leak they ripped off my pool liner completely. But leakage was because of broken pipe. They repaired the pipe thank you but the pool ripped off liner is still ripped off. Who is responsible to put it back. They dont want to know me after charging £1800 i am not rich. My pool liner will cost me £7000. Oh God. Unfortunately, our engineers found the pool in a very poor state before even commencing their investigation. The condition of the fibreglass liner was the worst they had ever seen, with splinters sticking out and much of it not bonded to the pool structure. Our engineers sought authorisation from yourself before removing a section of the liner to carry out a repair to a leak caused by a screw hole. But the pool had already clearly suffered a lack of maintenance and investment, and the liner would have needed replacing anyway, because the pool was not safe to swim in. After carrying out 2 repairs, one behind the liner and one to a broken pipe, our engineers recommended that all the pipework and the liner should be replaced to bring the pool up to a safe and usable standard. Unfortunately our engineers can't be held responsible for the condition of the pool as they find it on arrival. My insurance company instructed me to use a leak detection company, despite the fact that I knew the leak was definitely in a small bathroom. Mark located and repaired it and pressure tested the system in about two hours (including a visit to the local plumbers merchant). So of course the whole day fee felt a bit painful. But it was clearly in accordance with the terms (which seems to be similar for all leak detection companies). If you have a leak that you think should be easy to find and fix, and your insurers instruct you to use a leak detection company, it might be worth asking a local plumber to attend and see if it can be sorted without making a claim: it's a bit of a gamble but you might find the cost is less than your insurance excess and it's worth the risk. However, if you have a complex hard to find leak (or a modest excess on your policy), I doubt you will find a better company to deal with. Matt was my engineer, couldn't have been nicer! We've been here 9 years and every year our pool is an issue (yeah first world problems!). We have spent literally thousands over the years on the pool leaks. Matt was here for no more than 15 mins, he had two leaks found but he still wasn't convinced that was the issue... A few hours later he had 5 leaks found some tiny, some huge!... I've no idea how the last 3 pool companies haven't found these!! He patched them all, he waited an hour or so to I check them again. He gave me his number and wanted an update on water levels... And .. when we reported back that we were still losing water he was right back! After 9 years we now finally know where all the leaks are, where the potential issues could be in the future, and where we should look to be make repairs out of season.. He then returned to base and we got an invoice for £830 odd quid. I appealed to United Utilities who came out, found the leak and did a live repair. Thanks for nothing! According to his report, a leak area was identified with tracer gases in front of the shrub. Our engineers do not know the locations of the stopcocks for all the properties in the country. It is not reasonable to expect them to know the location of your stopcock if you don't know the location of it, and you live at the property. Indeed even your own water supplier did not know where it was. Unfortunately if you are not able to show our engineer to the stopcock, and this cannot be found during the appointment, our engineers cannot carry out repairs to live pipework. This is due to the risk of not being able to access and repair the pipework in waterlogged ground, and potentially leaving you with an uncontrollable leak coming into your property grounds at between 3-5 bar of pressure. United Utilities would have been obliged to carry out a repair for you if they had not provided you with a point of isolation and we are very pleased that they filled this obligation to you, thus solving your leak. You were charged for leak detection as quoted, no repair. Would highly recommend. I noticed an underground leak in my central heating system. I called and spoke with ADI Leak Detection on Thursday 16th May. They booked an appointment for Friday 17th May (the following day). The engineer, Robert, turned up and performed a Powerflush on our system to ensure the system was clean and ready for the leak detection equipment. Robert then returned today (Wednesday 22nd May) and used the equipment to locate and repair the leak. Throughout the entire experience, Robert talked me through the process and showed me everything I needed to see. Robert also offered me advice in other areas of our system and made us feel extremely at ease with work that could be considered quite invasive. The use of the detection equipment meant that Robert located the leak with such accuracy that he only had to remove one 450mm x 300mm porcelain tile and dig some of the concrete to carry out the repair leaving me with a really simple single tile replacement to carry out. They immediately got on with the job, detected the leak and fixed it. The water was leaking in considerable quantities through the ceiling into a garage with a bathroom above. The leak was actually found in the loft space above the bathroom and was not visible but water was running down pipes hidden behind a wall. We would certainly recommend this company. Gabor and Kyle were extremely efficient and pleasant, explaining their actions. Without their specialised equipment the leak would not have been found so quickly. This is completely untrue. They have mentioned that they have sent a report and quoted us for further investigation. This is also completely untrue. I am writing this at 17:58 on the 23rd April and still havent received either the Invoice or "Full Investigation Report & Quotation for further investigation". As you can see from the response below, they have clearly admitted that it is their fault that we havent received the report or invoice. They have also mentioned that we could have tried getting in touch with them, before moving on to another company. I did get in touch with them after our initial appointment again on the 19th of Dec 2023 as that is when the Engineer said he will return but didnt turn up. When I rang them, they said nothing was in their system and they Ummed & Aaahed about setting up a future appointment. Nothing came from them after this. I had no choice but to look for an alternate service. Lastly, why would I go with another company if the engineer has narrowed the leak down ? He never did, nor there is a report about it. I would like mention here that they only bothered to reply to this public review, but still haven't replied to my email regarding the invoice or the report. First review: "No find, No fee" is not true.. Very cheeky company. They took the payment even without completing the job. No report was provided for any work that was done even after 4 months. They were suppose to come for a follow up appointment but the engg didnt turn up and they said no appointment was booked. Very poor service. They took payment but didnt inform us about it and didnt even send an invoice which was very cheeky and unprofessional. Be very careful if you want to engage with this company. Very dodgy. They didnt find any leak or even a trace of it. I called another company and they found the leak in 2 hours. So i dont even know whether the engg knew what he was doing when he visited us as he couldnt find anything and it was a total time waste + money wasted. As a leak detection company, this is our speciality. The second stage is repairing the leak. At the point of taking the booking we have no idea what the repair will entail. Our quotes are provided in two separate parts to reflect this. The first part of the quote is for the leak detection and the second part of the quote is for a repair IF it’s possible to carry out the repair in the same appointment. This of course cannot be guaranteed. We try to make it really clear when we take your booking that this aspect of the job is conditional, and based on a multitude of factors, such as the accessibility of the leak, the amount of labour required, etc. In the case of your leak detection the repair could not be carried out in the same appointment because a hot water cylinder needed to be removed to access the leaking pipework. So you were only charged for a leak detection. We then quoted you for a return visit to remove the cylinder, access the pipework and carry out the repair. We also quoted you for a power flush because our engineer noticed that you heating system had a severe sludge build up problem. A correctly functioning heating system should be able to bear every aspect of leak detection process, (i.e. being drained down, gas tested and refilled) without experiencing any problems. So, while we cannot be held responsible for heating systems failing to function correctly after a leak detection, as a gesture of goodwill, we offered you a discount on your quote for further work, thus absorbing the emergency call out costs for you. We do not deny that a plumbing company (rather than a leak detection company) may be able to provide a more competitive price for this work and it is your prerogative to choose a different company for the repair work if that is your preference. It is regretful that your repair could not be carried out on the same day. Honestly don’t hesitate in using ADI. Having a leak but not being able to pinpoint it can be very stressful which was the situation we found ourselves in. Our water bills were through the roof but with not signs of water damage it was impossible to pinpoint. Greg was absolutely brilliant !!! He worked tirelessly all day, located and repaired the leak. We had a tiny problem after the intial job but this was rectified without problem. They explained their service and costs in simple English and gave us a date to visit us. The costs were reasonable compared with other quotes we had, so we booked them. The only thing I would mention is that the time scale was longer than I anticipated we rang on the Friday 2nd and their earliest available date was the 7th Feb. however they did instruct us as to what to do between dates regarding turning off the water. Incidentally, the other 2 quotes I had, also had a similar time frame. The technician arrived 5 minutes early, was polite, carried out some provisional investigation tasks and then commenced the detection work. It was amazing, he found the leak quite quickly and informed us of this and the location. He then efficiently set about breaking up the just 2 large bathroom floor tiles and removing debris before repairing the leak. He left the area in a clean and tidy condition before leaving. But then: The Con: In situations where they find the leak they not only get this premium charge paid but they also gain from the profit in the repairs. Not bad for a day’s work. A WIN for ADI. However in situations where they do not find the leak (As in my case), they find the most relevant T&C that they can throw at the customer (and through their experience, they have one for every eventuality, which is only to their advantage) and state that the ‘no find no fee’ doesn’t apply or the customer doesn’t in some way qualify for it (In some cases taking advantage of a customer’s lack of technical understanding). Although they do not profit from any repair work they still get the premium charge paid (in fact they just take it since they already possess the customer’s card details!). So £714 for a day’s work. Another WIN for ADI. I’ve written to the Director Adrian and supervisor Monique on 10th, 15th and 18th January about their approach and also asked how many times they have honoured their ‘no find/no fee’ promise? I’ve yet to receive a response to my e-mails and I’m now in the early stages of escalation. Do not get caught out! Had he turned up originally with the correct equipment (or any equipment) he would have completed the job within half a day. 4 days later the repaired pipe burst again and flooded our basement for the second time. Before arriving we were quoted a worst case scenario like thing for something over a thousand to do the job. He came and was barely in our home for 5 minutes, no tests nothing, before saying it was the shower sealant. I wasn't too surprised. After 30 minutes of work, which feels a bit fast in hindsight, the sealant was replace and he was off. They still wanted the full quote amount. I somewhat lost it on the phone for that kind of extortion and as a sign of "goodwill" they reduced it to 700 and sent the guy back to do unnecessary testing on our pipes to justify it. I turned the guy away hoping it would mean only paying for the sealant job but no dice. Angry, but stuck where we were, we sucked up the cost. It's now been a few months and we have plasterers in to replace a crack that had been caused by this leak in the ceiling which was getting worse. Turns out the sealant was not done properly and is what caused the crack to worsen and the ceiling to start bowing in on itself, threatening to cave in. SO to recap- 700 quid to spend not even 40 minutes at our home to replace a sealant on a shower that they did a botch job on and here we are spending a HELL of a lot more fixing what they failed to. Careful of their quotes, they will hold you to this if you agree to it and even if not the work quoted is done. Admittedly, it is a form of contract you can do nothing about so just look elsewhere. Such a job shouldn't have cost more than an a hundred or so. I would give them a chance to fix what they caused, but I daren't bother giving them a chance to screw my dwindling bank account again, plus our current workers also have experience in this area and I would rather they do it. Far more trustworthy and fairly priced. I paid £700 for the visit and then later fixed the problem with a £7 bottle of Mould Remover from a local store. I have written to the company but had no reply. I would happily pay £200 or even £300 for such an inspection but £700 for 30 minutes work is a rip-off. BEWARE! If you are not sure what your problem is, don't accept their first quote. He was able to successfully sort out my problem using this knowledge and some detective work - I'm very grateful this was sorted out quickly before any major damage was done. 5 STARS
