Be wary of ANY company that takes payment over the phone before they’ve done anything! Charged my 85 year old dad £900!! Said they think the leak is under a cupboard, how convenient as their Ts and Cs say they won’t fix it if it’s under something, faffed about and left saying he could book another day for them to investigate (another £900!!). He’s 85, my mum has just passed away and you ripped him off! I called a plumber, he came out and sorted it, £300 and wasn’t anywhere near the cupboard! Save your money, call someone that you can trust and give ADI a wide berth. The engineer ‘Kristof’ was extremely helpful and answered my questions. He expertly identified the leak, dug the driveway and fixed the problem and put everything thing back well. He then did a thorough job of checking everything. Only criticism is felt quite expensive for the scanning/identification aspect. Turned out there was a leak under the floor and the boiler was ok. I contact ADI leak detection on the Tuesday and agreed a Thursday appointment today 26/06/25. Their Engineer Frank has attended the fault and quickly located the leak under a tiled floor, under a cupboard in our utility room. With minimal mess and damage has managed to dig up a small area which has only left the one tile in need of replacement. Fast, efficient and very friendly. Robert was very thorough and he regularly updated us on his next steps and the progress he was making throughout the day. When locating the leak which was located under the wall of our hallway floor, Robert showed us the images on the camera, explaining the problem and how he was going to fix it. He was able to pull up the carpet and floorboards with minimal disruption and everything was put back as it was found. Robert also took the time to make recommendations about other aspects of the home that we should have checked to avoid any further problems in the future and he sent us videos of the leak too. To top it off, Robert also kindly offered to fix our outdoor tap which he spotted was disconnected! Fantastic service! After several phone calls to companies who were either too busy or failed to appear competent I found ADI were the initial conversation was sensible and reassuring. An appointment was arranged with clear information re cost and what the engineer could do. ADI were able to send an engineer one day early. The engineer Kristof was very professional and soon located the leak. At all stages of the repair Kristof kept us informed and discussed all stages with us when there was risk of damage to units or the floor. The engineer attended for the whole of 10 mins - did not detect the leak and blamed on a small crack in tiles which made no sense as we were experiencing large gushes of water. I asked the engineer to wait. He refused left the property. I contacted Head Office, lady agreed that engineers conduct was not in line with the service they had promised to deliver - advised she would call and ask him to return. He did not. I called Head Office and no response. I got drain man out the next day who confirmed it was a water leak in garden as algae was easily seen in the water laying which would not be there if sewer water. Phoned up and said how disappointed I was with the service heard nothing back after being told they would talk to engineer. They found no leak but still charge me £700!!!! After ADI came to investigate (£1,014 quoted to fix), the leak was 720 litres an hour, with water possibly pooling under our house. After paying £726 for the initial call out, we are now being quoted a further £1,788 (plus parts!) to get what is now a worse situation fixed. An attempt at empathy over the phone that fell short when the individual became quite combative when I was asking what the quote was based on, and what other options there are. We explained to the person who made the booking at that the quote is only valid if the repair can be completed on the same day. Our engineer certainly tried but he was not able to access the pipe under the foundations of the extension. As this was the second leak on the pipe in 5 months, we did advise a full or at least part replacement to prevent the problem from recurring again in future. Naturally the costs associated with this are greater than a same-day repair. Unfortunately this is the reality with some pipework leaks, but we understand how disappointing this can be. We would love to repair every leak we find on the same day but this is not always possible, and sometimes a replacement is required. Our empathy for your situation was genuine and we are very sad that this was not perceived. We sincerely hope that however you choose to go about getting the pipe repaired, that this goes as smoothly as possible for you and we are sorry that you will not be using us for the repairs. Robert, the technician who attended to diagnose and resolve the water leak, provided excellent service. I had been experiencing continuous pressure drops in my Baxi boiler, and initially, we were unable to identify the source of the leak. It was at this point that we contacted ADI Leak Detection. Although I was initially sceptical, I now believe it was the best decision we made. Robert arrived promptly to begin the work. The leak was relatively easy to locate, as my kitchen had already started to flood by the time of repair. He immediately began searching for the source of the leak, which was found behind one of the kitchen cupboards in an awkward position. Without causing any damage to the cupboards, he carefully dismantled the shelf and accessed the leak. Robert was well-equipped, having all the necessary tools and materials to repair the issue on-site. After fixing the faulty plumbing, he rechecked the pressure using his pressure-detection equipment to ensure there were no further leaks. Additionally, he used thermal imaging to inspect the entire house, providing an extra layer of assurance. Once the work was completed, Robert refitted all the cupboard parts, ensuring that the kitchen looked as though no repair had been carried out. His confidence in his work was evident, and before performing each step, he took the time to explain the process thoroughly. He was also open to any questions, responding to them without hesitation. We appreciated his expertise and professionalism. We would highly recommend ADI, and especially Robert, for their services. The overall cost was reasonable, particularly when compared to several other companies that charge for unnecessary services. We are extremely satisfied with the quality of service provided. When I told him I was losing 0.5 bar of pressure everyday it didn't appear to be enough loss to find a leak. (Something which wasn't explained when I booked the company to find the leak.!) The plumber stayed all day trying to find it so I cant fault his willingness to find it. Ultimately if you have a hidden leak and not losing near enough all your pressure out of your central heating system in a 24hr period from what I have experienced and from what the plumber said then they will be unlikely to find the leak Hello You replied. I believe the extensive walk around my mother’s house looked like someone casing a house there was no requirement for him to be in the house the leak had been identified as outside. There was no way we would have allowed these men to drive the equipment we had hired for the job A they were not dressed correctly and. B no relevant qualifications!!! I made them Aware I was angry with what I believ to be a shambolic attempt at scamming us out of 1900 pounds which you did try to take from my mother’s account at 11.30 when the job was not completed . You’re the biggest fraudsters I have ever met . Disgraceful you need to come with a warning !!!!have replied pretending they don’t know who I am ! The job was done for my mother at our home in West Yorkshire they even asked her to ask me to take this review down !!!! They know exactly who we are ! Update re below we got another company in who found the leak which was no where to do with adi’s 12ft hole . They couldn’t believe the mess they had left us in . The leak was found isolated and sorted all within a 2 hour period and did not involve tearing up our property. We had to pay another 150 pounds to the machine driver to come and sort the huge hole On our driveway and then have it reseeded . Please read below and avoid avoid avoid !!!!!!!!Avoid ADI Leak Detection – Unprofessional and Inefficient I had an extremely disappointing experience with ADI Leak Detection. They arrived unprepared and wasted hours without making any real progress. Instead of using proper equipment to detect the leak, they spent three hours simply looking under cabinets and manually turning the water supply on and off—something I even caught on video. When they finally used their machines, they failed to detect anything. One of their workers sat in the van for two hours while the rest aimlessly walked around. They then claimed they needed to dig but came with nothing but shovels. If we hadn’t provided our own man with a digger, the job would have been impossible—the hole ended up being at least 12 feet deep. By 2 PM, they still didn’t have the correct part needed to put gas down the water line, yet instead of sourcing it, they wasted another two hours smoking, chatting, and wandering around. Their behavior felt unprofessional and even suspicious, as if they were stalling to ensure they’d have to return for another paid visit. The whole experience was appalling. We felt intimidated, and their conduct was completely unacceptable. I have since reported them to Trading Standards and taken legal advice regarding their service. On arrival it was discovered that the water supply was feeding not just the house, but three other properties, a FARM and animal troughs. In light of this, our engineers made as much progress as could be expected during the appointment. What you have described as looking under cabinets and turning the water off and on is called isolation testing and it's a method of working out which pipe the leak is on if there are multiple pipework feeds. It makes sense that the progress our engineers made during this appointment would have enabled the second company to find the leak more easily. This complaint has come as a surprise to us because Robert and Matthew both have a 100% track record of 5-star reviews. They have reported that you were insulting them, swearing at them, and accusing them of stealing. They offered to backfill the area that was excavated, and you declined. As the leak has now been found, and no payment has been made towards your mother’s outstanding bill, we conclude that no further action is required. Explained that over the last 6 years I had called British Gas out as a tile under the towel radiator was starting to pop out from the wall, then Dynorod called nothing was found. Over next couple of years the ceramic bathroom floor tiles started to lift up on each other, skirting boards were swelling, the wall in the hall was wet and stained from the bottom to about a foot from the ceiling. The carpet in the lounge started to get a big wet (soaking) patch on it, as did the main bedroom carpet, doors and door frames from one end of the bungalow to the other started to swell. In the end I got a damp proof company out, no damp found, a coal board report done and a water board report all came back nothing found. British Gas has test my boiler and it was not losing any pressure and my water meter was not using excess water so we were at a loss. Next step in March 2023 was to claim on my house insurance under leak and subsidence due to the bungalow being built over a pound in 1980 and in 1991 I later found out that the detached garage had been rebuilt on a rafter due to it collapsing into what would have been part of the pond. The inspection for subsidence was clear. Then they sent a company out called SOS to find the leak/burst using thermal imaging, the guy that called did his job but decided that the cause was the sealant on my shower so not able to claim. In May 2024 I called British Gas out for a leaking tap, before the call I had managed to take the bottom row of tiles off from the shower right round to behind the toilet, where it showed the plaster was soaking wet and the engineer said the hot & cold pipes set in the wall were set to close together and were the root cause of all my issues. Told insurance this who informed me that my carpets would not be included in any claim, I told them I didn’t want SOS calling again as the root case of the problem had not been found so I would get my own survey done. Paul was fantastic, professional and took me though every step of this very complex process. After about 2 & a half hour Paul found the root cause, I could have kissed him, after years of stress. The cause was a waste water pipe in the breeze block wall between the main bathroom and the ensuite on the side of the bathroom wall, when he turned the taps on in the ensuite water came flooding through the exposed wall fill the gap against the wall in the main bathroom. As this problem has been ongoing for over 6 years it has caused untold damage everywhere, Paul has never see damp go up an internal wall as high as ours did. Unfortunately Paul could not fix the leak at this time as the waste pipe in the ensuite shows as a T junction with no access to it as toilet is in the way and in the main bathroom the waste pipe is straight going to the outside, even after he did some digging out the T junction was still not accessible. Paul has said that the toilet in the main bathroom would need to been taken out and the some of the wall taken down to gain access to the leak on the T junction where an end cap has probably now come completely off. The court is now issuing a County Court Judgement against them for non payment. A company that fails to comply with court ruling is a dishonest company by my standard. We have found it necessary to take this company to court. ADI agreed with us a fee for finding a substantial leak. They wanted £714 for leak detection and £300 for the repair, which we paid in full to secure an appointment. After receiving payment they sent their terms and conditions. They spent 4 hours at the property and did not find or repair the leak. They ‘presume’ it is under kitchen units. In their report they waffle on about compression joints being used in the property. These are used all the time by the building industry. We know - we had a building company. They are not leaking. They talk about green staining on copper pipes that are not leaking. They talk about ball valves being replaced. Which are not the problem. They mention some damp under a kitchen unit, but don’t specifically state which one. It was a previous issue of a leaking tap. It was not the problem. In short they do everything to justify not carrying out what we believe they were contracted to do. They then wanted £3,985.20 comprising £2,780 for labour, plus £246 for materials and £295 for repair plus VAT to repipe the property! This is for two days work for two people. They didn’t explain what the cost of the ‘repair’ is for, its clearly not included in labour and materials!? We asked them for specific details in their report which were not forthcoming. They claim there is unprotected pipework under the floor. How do they know this? They then changed their minds and said they felt they should dig up the kitchen floor! We have since employed a professional company, they found the exact site of the underground leak using thermal imaging and repaired it for a fraction of the cost of ADI Leak Detection. This has been a horrendous experience. 2-3 litres of water leaking under the kitchen floor per hour and we get irrelevant waffle about compression fittings etc. I trust our honest review will save you a lot of stress - and money. Given the reviews and the promising sales pitch by the people in the office (claimed that most repairs are done on the first visit and the bigger the leak the easier it will be traced and fixed), decided to pay the extortionate £595+VAT. Engineer came out at 9:30, only used two pieces of tracing equipment (rather than the 6 that’s mentioned in ADI’s sales pitches) and the plumber suggested they found the leak on a mains pipe running under the garage - metres before the kitchen and was adamant the leak wasn’t at the back of the property. Engineer had NOT carried out a non-invasive repair as quoted by ADI, leaving a 3 foot deep hole in our garage. Felt fobbed off by the plumber, due to the lack of equipment used and the leak he shown to me in the garage was very minor - didn’t look worthy of the 1200 litres per day lost as per the water metre readings. Plumber left without giving the repair an attempt, which was frustrating, ADI’s office quoted approx £1600 on top for the repair to be carried out on a 2nd visit, taking the total charges to over £2,000+VAT Checked the WaterSafe register for a local specialist, contacted someone different who came out and found the most damaging leak was in the kitchen, where we initially thought it would be. Replaced the pipework covering both the tiny leak found by ADI’s sub-contracted plumber, made redundant the old pipework and also kindly filled the hole in the garage left by the previous engineer/plumber. The initial gushing water sounds had stopped and the fault was fixed - water metre has confirmed this ever since. New pipework from a local specialist firm cost almost the same as what I paid initially to ADI for what seemed to be an inaccurate, half hearted trace and repair for the main leak that was causing the problems. I wouldn’t recommend ADI, heavy sales pitches, over-charging and over-promising. Sub-contracted plumbers who don’t carry out thorough investigations. I initially spoke to Joe who was very thorough when going through the details and he was able to get an appointment to fix on Christmas Eve! Jason (Patrick) turned up early, and let's just say, he was absolutely excellent - and he saved our Christmas! What I appreciate is that the booking is for the whole day, so there is no "pressure" to rush off to another job. In doing this, Jason was able to take his time in identifying the problem (which he did within 10 minutes of arriving) and repairing the same - which took a while longer as we had to move furniture, take up carpets and the floorboards. Jason took this all in his stride and with a cracking sense of humour along the way. Then he stuck around and he actually tested the repairs...there is nothing more disheartening when you think it is fixed when it isn't. And he only left when he was satisfied that everything was working as it should. (I should add that we had had BG out a couple of days before, who did not fix the problem at all - hence the leak). After Jason had left, you would not have known he had been - apart from the lovely feeling of having central heating and hot water again! The quotation was spot on, and we appreciated the quick follow up with the report so that we could submit to our insurance company. Straight forward and no-nonsense, a big thumbs up and thank you from us. Turned up on time on New Year’s Eve, set to work straight away and quickly found the source of the leak which was in a fairly inaccessible place - under the screeded floor beneath the wall separating the hall from the lounge. Since there are built in cupboards both sides of that wall, repair involved dismantling a unit one side and working inside an under stairs cupboard on the other. All carried out very efficiently, pressure testing the whole system to make sure there were no other leaks, enabling us to have a nice warm house for New Year having shivered over Christmas! Would recommend. It seemed a lot of money when we first had the quote but, with hindsight, it was worth every penny to get it fixed so efficiently.
