I spoke to Caroline from ADI on 19th Dec. She was able to arrange an engineer to visit on 23rd Dec. I was surprised being close to Christmas . She advised the procedure and costs. The Engineer, Brett turned up on the 23rd. He was able to locate the leak very quickly. It was a problem in a cistern, it was isolated. From start to finish he took about 3hrs. That time included locating and testing. I would have no hesitation recommending ADI leak detection. Caroline and Brett very helpful and professional. Have also received a report should we claim on insurance. From the moment he arrived, Frank brought a calm, steady presence to what had been an extremely worrying and emotionally draining situation for us. He worked carefully and methodically, testing our underfloor heating system zone by zone and explaining everything clearly as he went. That alone helped us breathe again. When the UFH proved not to be the issue, Frank didn’t stop. He kept thinking, checking and following the evidence until he found the true cause , a very slow, long-term leak from a washing machine pipe that had been quietly affecting the screed and floors over time. Finally having a clear, understandable explanation was an enormous relief. Frank took the time to explain how the water had travelled and why the floor eventually lifted where it did, which helped everything suddenly make sense. His patience, thoroughness and kindness turned fear into clarity and reassurance. We’re deeply thankful for Frank’s expertise and the calm confidence he brought into our home. As a result, I was left without heating during the Christmas holidays. About an hour after the technicians left, I received a phone call from the office requesting £1,400 to release the report. I found this charge extremely high for two hours of work. After raising my concerns, the amount was reduced by £200. Within a relatively short period of time, couple of hours, he pinned down where the leak was using his gas detection equipment. Went to work digging up the area of where the leak was and soon was able to show me where the hole was in the pipe. Replaced the corroded pipe with a new length, performed a pressure test of the system and then reinstated the central heating system to ensure as far as possible all was well. Mark Pavitt and his colleague, Krystof, came to carry out the repair which they managed to do in two days instead of the three days which had been allocated. These two people worked so hard and efficiently to repair our leak, that we couldn't thank them enough. Our pool company had us dig up half of the patio surrounding the pool and still couldn't accurately locate it. Their advice was to dig a brand new return line all the way thorugh the garden which would have been a huge job. Luckily I then called in ADI to find the leak. They are not cheap but clearly know what they are doing. They found the leak within a couple of hours and it wasn't even on the return line which our pool company had identified as being the source of the problem. If I hadn't called in ADI we would have spent a lot and time and money on a new return whihc still wouldn't have solved the leak. The leak itself was dealt with easily and swiftly. No need for further digging up around the pool. The guys we dealt with were prompt, polite and easy to deal with. Great experience. I have a leak somewhere under my house, detected by South West Water. I'm on the end of the main so it was found on a routine inspection. Called ADI to find the leak and agreed repair. My house was built in the 1800s. Engineer arriving on his own I can see now was never going to fix it on his own. I showed him where I thought the leak was and he began his check. He confirmed what I said that I had a leak. He arrived to my house 40 miles away from Exeter and spent an HOUR . He informed me I needed to contact a plumber to redirect the cold water pipe. Everything in his report was everything I told him I learnt nothing new from his report. I was then charged £740. Which was taken from my account with half an hour of his leaving. Prepayment was arranged beforehand. I have spoken to the office and registered my angst after taking a day off work. I have been offered £100 refund. I am devastated and much poorer for the event. I knew how much the call out was but I was expecting a lot more than an hour. I will never use this company again and suggest other users think carefully before they commit. Our regular plumber couldn’t find, so we needed to find a firm with the specialist kit. ADL came, said they’d found the leak, replaced a part in the tank and told me the water metre was faulty. Thought everything was fine until the water company replaced the metre and discovered there was still a leak. They sent a leak detector around (for free) to help me find the leak- turns out there are 3 things still leaking. They told me to complain and asked for a full refund, as I’d been overcharged, no proper detection equipment used and the report was inconsistent. Was also charged £50 for a part that costs around £5 retail. I contacted ADL by email, giving my concerns in detail and requesting a refund (minus cost if the part and my normal plumber fee) and they agreed to refund me and apologised for what happened. The office was excellent in dealing with my issue, that’s impressive. The ADI engineer arrived bang on time at 0930 hours and introduced himself as ROBERT GIRES. Robert did not presume but politely asked for access to the home and a description of the leak before inspecting where leaked water was visible and then starting work. Robert explained what he was doing and why it was being done as he went along. By the time he was ready to leave Robert had found and fixed the hidden source of the leaks in an upstairs bathroom. Robert also went beyond what was expected by the elderly home owners by altering pipework and fitting a new shower. ROBERT GIRES worked cleanly, methodically and professionally whilst being informative, amiable and polite. Would heartily recommend him and his work. ADI also sent us a detailed report, incorporating photographs taken by the engineer, and invoice both for us and the insurance company. ADI were the 3rd plumbing company we contacted that day. 1st firm said will call back & hung up. 2nd firm said will be with you in an hour. Never showed up. Finally called ADI who may not be cheap but are good on the phone, arrive when they say and get the job done. It seemed to me a big job but nothing was to much trouble for him, took apart flooring, walls,sinks etc fixed the leak and completely cleared up afterwards. He was professional and everything was completed with a price agreed first, so no hidden costs and no work was pushed onto us, we even had the option of contacting our regular plumber to do the work once the leak was located. Mains leak started after the road was resurfaced in front of my property - engineer thinks it’s in the back garden on the opposite side of the house from the mains supply. I was quoted for a full day of leak detection and repair for a mains leak of around 75L/hour. The engineer arrived late at nearly 10am and had left the property by 3pm after being unsuccessful in locating the leak and therefore not repairing it either. The engineer’s report dismissed acoustic readings as they didn’t believe them. Tracer gases were used and found in multiple locations but dismissed believing the gases have travelled throughout the house. An area was suspected for the source of the leak based on gas evidence alone after dismissing the readings everywhere else in the property. No evidence of acoustics in this location and all other signs of damp around the property were ignored. Leak was not confirmed here and is only a suspicion and is based on dismissing all other evidence collected throughout the day. I was quoted over £2000 for 2 engineers to return another day to find the leak and repair it. The company T&Cs state a “No find, No fee” section but will not admit that on this occasion they were unsuccessful in finding the leak. If further work with 2 people is required to find and fix the leak, it has clearly not been found. The admin team will try and argue that a drop in water pressure means they have located the leak and are clearly unaware of their own T&Cs as they will try to claim that the “no find, no fee” is only applicable when no evidence of a leak is found. He also suggested there might be another leak under my kitchen floor, which would need to be ripped up to investigate. For this vague and inconclusive diagnosis, I was charged over £700. To make matters worse, I was told if ADI were to carry out the repairs, it could cost up to £6,000. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion. A local plumber quickly found the actual leak under the drive, showed me the issue, temporarily fixed it, and will be returning to complete the job for £2,000. There was no leak under my kitchen floor. I now realise I could have been thousands out of pocket had I blindly trusted ADI’s advice. I feel completely misled and overcharged for a service that didn’t provide clarity or solutions. Since this experience, I’ve looked into their reviews more thoroughly and was shocked by how many negative experiences others have had and by how unprofessionally ADI responds to criticism. Based on my experience, I would never use ADI again and would strongly advise others to seek alternatives before considering them. Kristoff and James were very helpful and professional. The negative, extortionate fees. The job cost us just under £5000 (around £700 to identify the leak, and the rest for 1.5 days' work to fix it). The insurance company reviewed our claim and said ADI's pricing was high...by £2000. The job was invoiced daily and money taken direct from our account - a very odd way to do business. Caroline asked a series of questions to determine whether we would be able to assist you. She asked if you had any information about the meter and leak rate, and you replied that the meter was creeping round very slowly, and the bills had increased by £60 over a 2 year period. Caroline responded that if the meter was only creeping round, and the bills had only increased by £60 over 2 years, this leak would be practically impossible to find. She even tried to deter you from making the booking, advising you to wait for the leak to get worse. She warned you that we would not be able to guarantee to find a leak of this size. You stated yourself that you weren't convinced you had a leak but you wanted us to attend to carry out our checks anyway and you understood that it was very unlikely we would find anything. So we proceeded to make the booking. Our engineer attended to find your meter was approx 100m away from the property, going under 2 other people's properties that we did not have access to, and the leak rate was approx 0.25L per hour or 4ML per minute. For comparison, we guarantee to find a leak of 500ML per minute, so your leak was less than 1/10 of this size. If a different company came in and found this leak, we would be very interested to see their report, please. We feel that by accepting our quote and proceeding with the booking, despite all the warnings that Caroline gave you, you put us in a lose-lose situation and the 1-star review is very unfair. Caroline did everything she could to be transparent with you, and you even commented about how helpful she was. Furthermore we would like to add payment was taken after the investigation was complete, not before and we would be happy to send you proof of this from our online payment terminal digital records.
